What
The Danish Transport and Logistics Association, DTL, had a site that was hopelessly out of date. For many years, the site had served as a simple repository for any and all documents that the organization wished to make public. However, there was little or no organizational scheme to help members find what they needed. Moreover, membership attrition rates were on the rise. FatDUX was asked to carry out a complete overhaul of the site, including the implementation of a new content-management system.
How
FatDUX started by interviewing members and potential members of the organization – we even road with truck drivers to learn more about how their daily work was conducted. We also interviewed virtually all key stakeholders within the organization. Based on our findings, we presented a detailed communications strategy, put together a new site architecture, rede- signed the site (with respect for the existing printed materials), and implemented the design in a new content-management system. We even designed a brand-new member database, which was integrated with the new site so that members could update their own personal information. Finally, FatDUX conducted specially tailored in-house writing workshops for DTL’s content team.
Results
Within a week, over 1000 updates had been made in the membership database. The site has proven to be significantly easier to use – also by members of the press and politicians. The membership numbers have now stabilized, despite the poor economy. And FatDUX continues to work with DTL to improve the online offering.
